1. Program Universal Remote
Programing your universal remote can be done using the program guide that came with it. The first thing you need to do is determine what kind of device you want to control (TV, DVD player, or other). Determine this by reading through the Program Guide and finding out which devices are compatible with your universal remote.
Once you have determined the device, locate the code for that device in the Program Guide and write it down. The code will be a four or five-digit number preceded by a letter (such as “A” or “B”).
Next, turn on your TV or DVD player and locate the input button on the remote. This is usually a button with the image of a TV or DVD player on it. On most remotes, this is the “TV” button. Press and hold the input button until the LED flashes twice. Then release the button.
2. Program Universal Remote for Device
Now that your TV or DVD player is turned on and you have located the input button, it is time to program the remote. Press and hold the Program button until the LED flashes twice. Then release the button.
Using your keyboard, type in the code you wrote down from the Program Guide and press ENTER. If everything was entered correctly, you will see “SUCCESS” on your TV screen. If not, try again.
3. Program Universal Remote for Volume Control
Some universal remotes also have the ability to control the volume of your devices. If you want to program this feature, locate the VOLUME button on your remote and press it. Then hold down the MUTE button until the LED flashes twice. Now release both buttons
Using your keyboard, type in the code for your device and press ENTER. If everything was entered correctly, you will see “SUCCESS” on your TV screen
4. Program Universal Remote to Control Devices
Now that all of these steps have been completed, it is time to program the universal remote so it can control more than one device. To do this, press and hold the SET button until the LED flashes twice.
Using your keyboard, type in “00” and press ENTER. This will tell the remote to control all devices that are compatible with it. If you only want to control a specific device, type in the code for that device followed by “00”. For example, if you only wanted the remote to control your TV and not the DVD player, type in “00TV”.
If all goes well, you should see “SUCCESS” show up on your screen. Programing a universal remote is easy! Now that it has been programmed for multiple devices, there are no limits to what kind of device you can control with your universal remote.
